Cequent Consumer Products
Looking back at 2012
This time of the year is a good time to take a minute to reflect on the year in business. Our team has worked incredibly hard this year to grow the Cequent business and we have a lot to be thankful for as far as our success goes. It was quite a year for us expanding our current product lines, expanding into new markets, acquiring two companies, their products, customers and business. In 2013, we will continue to manage and evaluate our new cleaning tool business as well as look into other ways to help Cequent grow. .
We continued to promote our brands through the sport of professional racing. In 2012, our Reese Towpower, Highland and Laitner brands sponsored NASCAR Champion, Brad Keselowski in his Camping World Series Truck Team. Reese Towpower was part of a huge Twitter promotion that kicked off race season and made nearly 3,000 NASCAR fans a part of the action by including their twitter handles on Keselowski's Reese Towpower truck at Daytona International Speedway. At Chicagoland Speedway, we debuted the new look of Laitner on the hood of our Camping Series truck as well. Finally, the race at Kansas Speedway was celebrated with two NASCAR driver autograph events sponsored by Reese Towpower and held at AutoZone stores. We enjoyed meeting the fans and working with our retail friends at AutoZone.
The 2012 AAPEX show that we attend every year was also another huge success for us. We debuted numerous new innovative products including a line of wiper blades, cargo securing items, new items from our marine and Power Sport line and a new trunk mounted bike rack. We made a huge splash with our New Carbon Forged line of products from Reese Towpower that will help motorists tow more with a new weld-free design that is sure to become the most desired ball mount and hitch ball in the towing products market. Cequent also took home two AAPEX awards.
With our newly acquired Laitner cleaning tools line, we created a new logo, new packaging and a new catalog. We expanded the distribution by adding new customers and using our experience in the consumer product business to increase product and provide excellent service to the Laitner customers. The development of a new website for desktop and mobile was started this year and will debut early 2013.
This year we also continued to build websites, mobile sites and product pages, produced videos, are active with social media and established an enewsletter program. Marketing has also been working on updating product information and ensuring that all of our product features and resources are organized and efficient.
I think if we added to this, all of the work that our teams have done to help the business grow this year, this blog would get really long. Our Human Resources, Finance, Engineering, Warehouse, Customer Care, Purchasing, IT, Marketing and Management teams have managed an incredible workload that have all contributed to the success this year.
Looking forward to 2013! Happy New Year!
